St. John's NS in Shannon is officially the smartest school in Co. Clare!

That's according to a recent quiz run by Clare FM in conjunction with Avonmore. Breakfast Show presenter, Ciara Revins, travelled throughout the county, challenging pupils to complete a ten-question quiz in 90 seconds and our team, St. John's United, was the only team to score an impressive 10/10! Pupils Arainn Daley, Kyra Collins, Owen Meehan and Aaron Duggan are no strangers to quiz success as three of the four team members recently achieved first place in the science quiz held in Shannon to mark Science Week.

We travelled to Clare FM HQ in Ennis just before Christmas to receive our prize. Pictured below are the winning team, their supporters and Ciara Revins of Clare FM.

The Smartest School In Clare

Hon The Banner!

In other news, St. John's NS recently welcomed the Liam McCarthy cup to the school. We are great supporters of the Clare Senior Hurling team and were delighted to meet players Aaron Cunningham and Podge Collins. Backroom staff member, Michael Collins, also attended. The pupils sang a rousing rendition of "We're On the Road to Croker" for the assembled. Parents, teachers and pupils alike were delighted to meet the players and staff and were eager to get their hands on the coveted trophy!
